Campo Blanco in Whitefield takes over Moonbeam

Faye and Aaron Cummins have become the ‘proud’ new owners of the Bury Old Road coffee shop, Moonbeam, which is around a three-minute drive away from their tapas bar, Campo Blanco. 

The couple said they fell in love with Moonbeam when it first opened two years ago and could not pass up the opportunity when they discovered it was up for sale.

Aaron said: “We were approached by the previous owner, Lewis, as he wanted the establishment to carry on running and the hardworking team to keep their jobs.

“His partner was about to have their fourth child but also worked away in the merchant navy so couldn’t commit to the workload anymore.

“Lewis knew we loved Moonbeam, we went in all the time for meetings with the Campo Blanco team or even for a mid-week treat as we’re busy working at weekends.”

Since taking over, the venue has undergone a few changes with more to come in the new year alongside a new a new brunch menu from the head chef.

Aaron joked that regular Moonbeam customers do not need to worry about the changes because the popular 'Turkish Eggs' are staying and the Shakshuka is back.

He said: “The coffee is amazing, we have always loved the food and drink here.

“We decided to open every day of the week because we could never find anywhere open for breakfast on Mondays and Tuesdays and it’s been really popular”.

Although this is the couple's second venue, the pair are new to running a 'brunch' establishment.

Aaron added: “There’s a lot to learn so please bear with us whilst we find out feet but we’re loving it so far, it compliments Campo Blanco well because Moonbeam is morning and afternoons and Campo is lunch and evening.

“One thing we’re not new to is fresh food from great suppliers (Grandad’s Sausages and Abe & Co Coffee) and friendly service, you might even spot a few Campo staff doing a guest appearance.

“It’s been a tough few weeks but hopefully it’s a success, we’re so grateful for our neighbours and friends for visiting us and excited for new customers to try us out soon”.

Faye and Aaron met as teenagers at St Monica’s RC High School in Prestwich and after leaving school, Aaron worked as a bartender at TGI Fridays in Prestwich, where Faye was a waitress.

The two hit it off and the rest is history.

They now run Moonbeam and the Moss Lane restaurant Campo Blanco, aptly named as it means Whitefield in Spanish.
