A supermarket-run petrol station in Whitefield has apologised to customers after petrol 'contamination.'

Morrisons, which operates a petrol filling station in Whitefield, has confirmed that a petrol tank at the station become contaminated with water last month. 

The filling station was closed on December 16, 2023 with some residents reporting issues with their vehicles following use of the petrol pump. 

Morrisons have confirmed that the station has since begun selling petrol as normal once again and apologised to any residents affected.

It confirmed it is working with a 'small number' of customers to resolve issues they have reported with their vehicles. 

In a statement, a Morrisons spokesperson said: "The petrol tank at our Whitefield petrol filling station was closed on the 16th December due to water contamination.

"We are working to resolve a small number of customer claims where their cars were unfortunately affected. We are very sorry that this happened.

"The tank reopened on the 29th and we have been selling petrol as normal since then."
