A new family friendly festival created by the organisers of a popular borough event is coming to town.

Loaded Festival will feature an acclaimed line-up in tribute to the 1990s on Saturday, May 4 at Sedgley Park Rugby Club in Whitefield.

The team behind Loaded are Christopher Buckley and Lyndsey Hopkinson, organisers of Glaston-BURY, which raises money every year for Bury Hospice.

A decision was made during the pandemic to hold a gig to honour NHS staff.

Loaded will be a warm up to the planned thank you gig, which is due to take place later this year.

During lockdown, the Glaston-BURY team hosted regular virtual events featuring local musicians and performers.

Instead of raising money for the hospice as Glaston-BURY usually does, these events raised donations to go towards staging a gig to thank NHS staff for their amazing efforts during the pandemic.

Christopher said: “The work of the NHS is amazing. Those people gave everything they had and more at a time when the whole world was in chaos, and we need to honour that.

“We want Loaded Festival to be a way to prepare the foundations for a truly amazing gig later this year which will be free entry for NHS workers because the very least they deserve is a great night out as our guests.”

More acts will be announced in the future, but the initial line-up includes tributes to Guns n Roses, The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Oasis, Happy Mondays, The Chemical Brothers as well as live PA from Elouise and sets from Tom Hingley and Housejammerz.

Operations manager Lyndsey added: “While we are using Loaded as a way to prepare for bigger things, it is also our way of showing thanks to all the people who supported Glaston-BURY’s virtual events.

“Without their donations, we would not be able to make the plans for the NHS thank you gig a reality, and we want them to know how grateful we are.

“We want all our supporters and friends to have a brilliant day out at a fraction of the usual ticket price for an event like this.

“Loaded is going to be special for so many reasons!”
