A Bury street is one of four scenes put in place by the police today (April 28) as a part of an investigation into the discovery of body parts at Kersal Dale earlier this month.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are at a premises on Mitchell Street as well as at areas of Blackleach Country Park, Linnyshaw Colliery Wood and Worsley Road in Salford.

Earlier this week two men, aged 42 and 68, were arrested on suspicion of murder. The men, who are believed to be known to each other, are in custody to be interviewed.

The four scenes in Bury and Salford are a result of a number of breakthroughs in the investigation, GMP said.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes of its Serious Crime Division, said: "As we close the net further on this investigation and uncover more intelligence, I want to reassure our communities we are doing everything in our power to ensure we obtain every available bit of available evidence.

"Our investigation so far has been a far-reaching and painstaking process, trawling through hundreds of hours of CCTV alongside recording several accounts from the public around the circumstances.

"The four scenes in place are to make sure we investigate thoroughly and continue with our good progress and remain committed on keeping you updated as and when we make further developments.

"We are still appealing to our local communities, if they have seen, heard or witnessed anything suspicious in the areas mentioned, please do the right thing and come forward as it is not too late and that tiny bit of detail you have could be crucial."

One nearby resident, 74-year-old Raja Iqbal, was shocked to hear about the investigation.

He said "I didn't see anything, it is surprising, shocking.

"I've known this area for 50 years, a long long time ago there was a mill there I used to work in."
